After starting his career working for two large general contractors, Mike McMaster took matters into his own hands by opening his own structural concrete company. He established Imac Construction in 1997 and has never looked back. Quality service from high-quality employees has helped Imac survive and thrive even during the tough times.

McMaster believes it's important for a company to carefully conserve its resources because that's what allows them to provide superior service on its projects. Maintaining a strong and loyal workforce has been the key to success. As Imac celebrates 20 years in business in 2017, the company has about 35 employees who have been with the company for at least 10 years.

“There’s a mutual respect between managers and workers. A respect for what they do and their contributions to the success of our company. We have a very professional staff who works hard, and most importantly, safely,” says McMaster. “A culture of mutual respect among everybody causes the team to stay long term.”

The contractor is always looking to add new technology in the field which allows them to work more efficiently. While investing in technology is the key, McMaster also believes keeping up with it is one of the toughest challenges they face.

“The general contractors we work for are always advancing technologically to make the job more efficient for them. When it comes to document exchange between us and them, it’s a full-time job just to research what documents have changed because they’re all using different systems, which means we regularly go online and search what changes effect who,” says McMaster.

Imac Construction withstood the economic downturn by maintaining a strong reputation in the community. People knew they could always count on the contractor to get the job done. McMaster is proud of how his team helped the company bounce back. “Our biggest accomplishment is that we are still in business, we are still successful, and that we came out of the recession stronger than ever.”

The California contractor is looking to expand its operations. With a strong reputation and group of employees who refuse to quit, Imac Construction is sure to make a splash in the construction industry.
